Bathroom Makeover

So I happened to come across a great clearance deal at Kohls one afternoon.  I found a bathroom theme that fit the kids’ bathroom perfect!  Monkeys and frogs in colors that, I think, went well with our bathroom walls (Bill’s never liked the color, but too bad, right?)

I grabbed the shower curtain, hand soap pump (which I actually use for their shampoo since I buy that in the economy size) a toothbrush holder, and two matching cups.  I bought a white acrylic paint pen and wrote their names on it so we could tell them apart – I guess my paint job was pretty good because Bill thought I bought them that way!  And I figured I could possibly make my own polka dots or replicate the frog and monkey for some wall art.

Well, I finally got around to the wall art just in time for company before Noah’s birthday and this is how it turned out!

IMG_7662I was going to use canvas for the animals, but am interested in possibly putting up shelves above the toilet at some point and thought framing the characters would make them more versatile for when I do that.

I actually took pictures of the characters, blew them up a little and printed them out.  Then I used the photos as a template to cut out the elements on felt sheets.  A little glue and painted on smiles and voila!

The frames hang crooked for some reason.  But they’re both the same degree of crooked, so it works.  And to make things even better, my college towel set matches the shower curtain too.. orange and yellow!

Yep, Noah’s not wearing any pants.  Who needs pants when you’re brushing your teeth, right?
