It's going to take some serious time to jot down the trip to Florida... so for now, I'm re-posting a reminder... I need help finding the dogs a home! Alexis' skin did MUCH better being away from them for a week! ~Andrea

Dogs need a new home!

I have a huge favor to ask.

We just found out Alexis is allergic to our two dogs and after a lot of consideration, we’ve made the very difficult decision to find them new homes.

They’re both indoor dogs and crate trained… and while they each have their faults, we’ve figured them all out!
Harley (in the back) is a 5-year-old hound-mix we adopted in Knoxville, Tennessee. He’s very affectionate, mellow & good with kids and other dogs… he just doesn’t like the SD snow or cold weather. He only barks when people come to the door and has separation anxiety, but being crate trained has helped a lot with that. He’s also allergic to pine trees (kinda funny, I know).

Honda (In the front) is a nearly 2-year-old redbone coonhound we adopted from the SFAHS just last year. She begs for attention and likes to cuddle but has some territorial issues when it comes to food & other dogs because of the situation she was in as a pup. So she’d do best in a new home as an only animal and with children who are older. She only barks/howls if another dog barks, otherwise, she’s more of a whiner and only does that when she needs to go out or is hungry. She does have some digestive problems because of food allergies, but we think we’ve figured out which food suits her best.

They’ve also both been to obedience class and know the main commands to sit and stay.
So, if you or anyone you know is looking for a dog, please let me know.

All Better!

Alexis' surgery went very well.

We showed up at the hospital at 8am and after getting all her all check in with the nurses, insurance and doctors, she headed back to the operating room with the nurses. We put her in a little red wagon and they wheeled her down the hall way.. she didn't make a peep! We were very impressed.
Anna had warned me to go get cookies right away because they disappear fast. So, I dried my tears and headed for cookies & coffee. By the time I got back to the room, Bill said the nurse had already been back to tell us she was already sleeping and still hadn't fussed. We figure she was so used to her neb. treatments that she probably didn't think twice about taking in the oxygen & gas.

Fifteen minutes later, the doctor came back to tell us it had all gone smoothly and another 15 minutes later, two nurses brought her back to us... lungs & all! She was pretty worked up, extremely tired and took about half an hour to calm down and get to sleep.

She had a decent amount of air in her stomach so that was probably bothering her. Once she woke up, she was alert and ready to go!

We came home and she slept some more, ate a good 5 ounces of milk and played with her two new friends (a bunny & polar bear) for a while before taking another nap now. As you can see, she looks great & really isn't phased much by it all.

Oh, don't forget about the dogs... I'm going to keep reminding you for help!!!

Tubes...

The baby girl is getting tubes on Friday.

We saw the ENT dr. yesterday and she had fluid in there again. On Monday, she finished the antibiotic from an ear infection she had from Christmas, so the doctor suggested it was time to take the next step.

While she could still get ear infections, we won't have to give her antibiotics because they'll be able to drain themselves and we can just use drops. That should help with the stomach & dehydration complications we've had when she's on the antibiotics and help her gain weight as well.

So we go in to the surgical tower tomorrow at 8am. She'll be put under for about 10 to 15 minutes while the doctor inserts the tubes and then she'll wake back up... likely a bit fussy. After an hour or so in recovery, she can go home to rest with Mom & Dad.

The doctor also wanted to get her in before her trip to Disney as this will help with her ears on the plane. We shouldn't have to worry about that at all now. She also said not to worry about the swimming pool or having to put plugs in. Guess that's not a concern like it used to be.

I'll let you know how she does...

Please also continue to read the next post about the dogs... We need some help!

Naughty Mommy!

UPDATE: I've started posting photos... but I'm back dating them for archiving purposes... this is just the begining!

-------

I have lots of news & pictures to share after the holidays but haven't had time to sit down and get it all down on the site. "Slow Blogging" is apparently in though... hehehe. I did add my Twitter updates to the side of the page though if that interests anyone. We'll try hard to get some updates in before we go to Florida!! Then we'll have a lot to share again!
